Des and Pen are now basically Paradise Lost - she's so not happy he's all dragged back in the drama.

Shout out to Jo Pearse that they named their baby Charlie (aww!)

Notice that Faraday's chick from the photo was the chick laying in the bed... and my brother (whom I just invited to this blog) thinks she may also be the girl on the island. Also, Charlotte looks SO MUCH LIKE HER.

So much more... rewatching now.

season 5 - episode 1

So bad things have happened to the island because the Oceanic 6 left. Not after, not before, not in spite of. Because.

Bad things didn't just happen to the island dwellers when the Oceanic 6 left. Jack’s question of “how did this all happen” has nothing to do with the Island – rather, all the bad things that happened to the Oceanic 6 after they returned home.

Hurley is back in the crazy house, and he sees dead people.
Kate lost love twice (Jack to crazy town and Sawyer to the Island), and is being haunted Claire. Claire, who may be dead or alive is appearing to Kate and screaming that she better not bring Aaron back.
Aaron is being raised without a daddy, without his real mommy.
Sayid lost Nadia, and is killing people at Ben's whim.
Sun believes Jin is dead and she is seeking revenge on the people she holds responsible: Her father and presumably Ben. She's even partnered up with Widmore...and that can't be good.

Also - remember Faraday's rules of engagement:
“You cannot change anything. You can’t. Even if you tried to, it wouldn’t work. Time is like a string – you can move forward, or reverse, but you cannot create a new string. If you try to do something different, you will fail every time. Whatever happened, happened.”

So nothing they do now will change anything that happened before. The one muckity muck in this seems to be Desmond being able to do things that have altered outcomes before, more on him later.

Questions:

1. Is Charlotte sick like Minkowski (the communications guy from the boat) and like Desmond was before he made contact with Penny? Is this because she was on the island before and hasn't found her constant yet?

2. Its possible that the opening scene with Faraday inside the Orchid as it is being built, was actually a "flashback". I'm betting at some point the island will "jump" back that far in time, allowing him to enter the Orchid to try and sort everything out. Will that throw him into the future? Is this why he was crying when we first met him last season? Does he have this residual memory of everything that happened, and everyone that dies (Charlotte in particular), but can't quite remember it? Will he be exposed to high levels of radiation like Desmond rendering him able to remember things outside of the "jumps"?

3. Locke ends up with the compass that Richard Alpert gave him, which seems like the object that Alpert wanted him to choose as a child when he visited him way back in Season 4. Since the compass is Richard's and the knife is actually Locke's doesn't that mean that as a child Locke choose correctly?

4. Who is Pierre Chang/Halliwax/Marvin Candle's baby? Was it born on the island? Did it live as did the mom because the Dharma stations hadn't been built yet?

I realized I'm going to be in DC for the inauguration during the premier so now I am going to have to avoid reading any recaps for 24 hours until I get home. Ugh.

The island "moving" is the event the "incident" that Marvin Candle was referencing in all the dharma videos.

OMG.

Also Damon and Carlton (aka: the Lost Exec Producers) have stated that "you can't change the future" but they make no mention of the past.

If the island did go back in the past say 30 years (a reference from a Dharma video leaked this summer at Comic Con) that drops our survivors smack in the middle of the 70's when Dharma was in its heyday.

This can explain why:
1. Kids can't be born to women on the island- we're mucking up the time space continuum and the cycle of women is driven by things like cycles of the moon and things moving through time in a orderly fashion...also can you imagine how messed up it is to give birth in 2008 and then get zapped back 30 years?

2. Why Faraday (from the freightor) was seen crying in one of the new lost commericals which are airing now. They ask him from off camera "Dan, why are you so upset" and he says he doesn't know, but perhaps its because he was there on the island in the 70's and he "knows" whats going to happen to the Dharma people, and to the losties.

3. Why Richard Alpert isn't aging. If the island is jumping, perhaps its inhabitants stop aging at the point it does jump.

Also, Aaron (claire's baby) is going to play a huge role as she can be heard telling kate through the phone (post Kate's escape) that she "can't bring him back." And.... there are other promos airing on the web referencing John 3:16 and the sacrifice of a son. Well, Claire is the only person associated with our island who has a son.

Just some thoughts.

10/02 - Lost rolled up to Hawaii Medical Center West, a.k.a. St. Francis, in Kalihi (just up the street from Hoffs Drawler and Simon's Butcher Shop) today. Parked in front, Jack's Ford Bronco, a blue cargo van with "Canton-Rainier Carpet Cleaning" emblazoned on the side, and a Los Angeles Paramedics ambulance. Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, and Michael Emerson are on the scene. Jack is on the phone as action is called. He learns that someone, or something, is somewhere else, and they need to get there "right now." Jack jumps into his truck, but Sayid and Ben hang back a moment to have an intense conversation. At one point, to adjust for a dip in the grass, Naveen Andrews stands on some sandbags to meet Michael Emerson eye to eye. Eventually, Sayid takes the wheel of the blue van, and Ben climbs into the passenger seat. They drive off. Source: The Transmission

09/28 - This morning, they turned up in the heart of downtown Honolulu, taking over Alakea Street near South King St. - an immensely busy intersection. On the scene were Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly, and their respective cars (the classic Ford Bronco and the stylish silver Volvo). Jack gets out of his truck and crosses the street to Kate, sitting in her car. He kneels at her window, and they have a long conversation. Suddenly, Jack rises to his feet, and after a few more words, darts around the front of her car and jumps in the passenger seat. The pair then speed away.

Later in the day they moved everything up the street, and up 16 floors, inside 1100 Alakea Plaza. No clue what was filmed behind closed doors, but at least one tenant thinks they saw Michael Emerson. Yesterday, Lost was running two units at disparate location shoots. First, they took over the Pacific Marina Inn off Lagoon Drive, right in the flight path of Honolulu International Airport. It was a rainy morning, but they brought their rain trucks anyway, allowing them to conjure a downpour on cue. It was another Jack and Kate scene, but mum's the word on what happens at this motel. or where the motel's located. Meanwhile, on Queen Street, they filmed at the Honolulu Brewing and Malting Company building. This distinctive, historic red brick building previously hosted Lost as the loft Charlie shared with his brother Liam, but I'm pretty sure the structure was playing another time and place. A green screen was set up on the sidewalk fronting the building, which means the scene could've been anywhere. My guess? London. Henry Ian Cusick was on the set. [...]

Lost converted the public pool at Kaneohe District Park into a dark, angry ocean. In a canoe, paddling frantically, were Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Daniel, Charlotte, and at the head of the crew, Locke. Manufactured rain poured down, and crewmembers made waves and rocked the boat, large overhead lights creating lightning, large orange fans creating wind. Dialogue was hard to make out over the roaring noise of all the equipment, but Sawyer seemed to yell for them to go back, but someone sees or hears something and they begin paddling in earnest towards it, trying to avoid capsizing and shielding their eyes from the flashes. Episode 5.01:
Because You left (Season premiere)

Hurley and Sayid drive into the apartment complex parking lot in a late-model blue SUV. (It and the other cars have California plates.) They exit, Sayid looking sharp in a black shirt and dark khaki pants, Hurley wearing a thick, long, grey bathrobe over a blue T-shirt. Hurley's also holding a big burger and paper cup. They make their way stealthily up the stairs, and walk the length of the building, past several apartments. They work their way up to the top floor, Hurley eating the whole way. Finally they reach the apartment they're looking for. They confer for a moment. Sayid seems to reach for the top of the door, looking for a key, perhaps, when something startles them. Sayid pushes Hurley aside, and draws his gun, pointing it at the door. It opens, and there's a struggle inside. The next moment, Sayid throws a man over the railing to the asphalt four stories below. There's a second man inside. Shots ring out. Hurley emerges from the apartment, gun in his hand, and looks over the railing in disbelief. Looks like Sayid is introducing Hurley to his new career.

Michelle Rodriguez is returning to the show this season, multiple sources confirm. Rodriguez is back for one episode, most likely this season's second. The fact that Cheech Marin is also on the guest list for eppy 2 suggests that it's most likely a Hurley-centric outing. And after his encounter with Charlie's ghost last season, it's certainly feasible that Hurley would have an imaginary run-in with Ana Lucia.

General spoilers:

Caesar: 35-45. He is dangerous, physical and extremely intelligent with a dark past. He is a mysterious man whose intentions are unclear. He can charm us or kill us. Recurring guest star with possible series option for season 6.

Ilanna: 25-35. She is a European woman of great intelligence, powerful and charming yet incredibly dangerous, too. She is alluring and very used to getting her own way. Her past is deeply mysterious and dark. Recurring guest star with possible series option for season 6.

The Lost producers are looking for two ships, both need to be seaworthy. The main one they wanted was a big black ominous looking ship, but the ship company didn't have anything that was even remotely similar to what they described. However, they booked another ship and it's going to be a chase ship which goes after the big black one. The chase ship is the oldest ship in the marina and it looks like it's from the 1500's. Do you know why they would want boats that looked to be several hundred years old? They want to film out in the Pacific off the California coast in early September.

'Lost' Season 5 Premiere Scoop! The Episode Title Is...

Let's not hold this up with pleasantries and sentiment — the proverbial ''Hi, kids! It's been awhile, and boy, have I missed you!'' — although to be clear, it has been awhile, and I have missed you.

We have stuff to discuss.

Yes, even though the premiere of Lost is still more than five months away, I have news for you, including a bit of business that represents one of the first official ''spoilers'' of season 5 — the title that producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have given the first episode.

''THE BRIDGE''

Kinda evokes that moment at the end of season 3, when Flash Forward Jack was about to kill himself by leaping from that Los Angeles overpass. It's an important moment to evoke, as it sets up his redemptive quest to return to the Island and rescue those he left behind. Of course, Jack first has to find the Island, which vanished right before our eyes in the season 4 finale. One might wonder if ''The Bridge'' represents the segue from Jack's current position in space/time to the Island's present temporal locale.

''The Bridge'' also has subtext: after all, season 5 will be the bridge season of Lost — the year we must cross in order to get to season 6, the terminus for the series. All to say, ''The Bridge'' would make a fitting title for the first episode of season 5...

Except ''The Bridge'' isn't the title for the first episode of season 5.

I just made that up.

''NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT''

Not a bad title for the season premiere of Lost.

Certainly seems suitable given the time-travel shenanigans of season 4 and Candle/Change's assertion in the Comic-Con video that ''time isn't just of the essence... it IS the essence.''

The title pokes at the speculation that the Island isn't just missing in geographical space but also history, and it also winks at what Lindelof and Cuse suggested looms as a major new development in Lost's storytelling: episodes that have no ''present,'' but toggle between time frames — a show that is figuratively lost in time. All to say, ''No Place Like The Present'' would be a fitting title for the first episode of season 5...

Except it isn't the title for the first episode of season 5.

''THE SACRIFICE''

What do you think of that for the title of season 5, episode one? I kinda like it. It evokes the price paid by Michael and Jin to help save their friends — and the price paid by Ben to save the Island. And it might suggest some kind of thematic context for the death of John Locke/Jeremy Bentham.

I also like ''The Sacrifice'' because it links to a Russian film about death and survival set against the backdrop of apocalypse, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, who also directed an adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's Solaris, long suspected of being a Lost source text, despite not being part of the current Lost Book Club. All to say, ''The Sacrifice'' would make for fitting title for the first episode of season 5...

Except it isn't the title of the first episode of season 5.

...and I will, finally, give you this, the real-deal title of the Lost season 5 premiere, tentatively scheduled for a late January debut:

''BECAUSE YOU LEFT''

Reminds me of what Jack told Ben that Locke-as-Bentham told him before kicking the bucket.

New Blood on Season 5!

Production on Lost's fifth season gets underway in 12 days, so that can only mean one thing: Fresh intel is starting to pour in!

Sources confirm that Team Darlton is looking to introduce two new characters this season – and they're both as mysterious as they are lethal. They're also coming in as recurring players with an option to become series regulars in season 6.

First up is Caesar, a dangerous, physical and extremely intelligent male between the ages of 35 and 45. Although his intentions are unclear, this much is certain: He's as skillful at charming people as he is at killing them. He also has a dark past, but, c'mon, that much was a given.

The other newbie is Ilanna, a European female in her late 20s to early 30s who possesses great intelligence, but who's also dangerous as all get out. She's alluring and apparently used to getting her own way.

What does it all mean?!
Don't ask me, ask Jeff Jensen!

Better yet, I will:

"Caesar, eh? My mind immediately links to Planet of the Apes. Caesar was the primate that led his fellow apes in a revolt against their human slavers. So... remember when Ben made that cryptic reference last season to an Other that preceded him in leadership? The “Hostile” who ordered the gassing of the Dharma Initiative, a.k.a. “The Purge”? Assuming that dude ain’t Jacob, could he be this “Caesar”?

As for Ilanna, she sounds exactly like the kind of lethal lady Sayid would fall for. So I’m wondering if the dashing Iraqi is due for a new love interest, yet another lady whose true motivations will be in question."
